Her War

Interpreting Women's Lives during the American Civil War

Welbourne 2017

My next excursion into the 19th Century was Jessica Craig’s Steady Habits Travelers event Welbourne held just outside Middleburg Virginia. Please excuse the lack of photos but Jessica took many and can be found at https://steadyhabitstravelers.shutterfly.com/pictures/1093. So my post will be very light. This year’s event was more low key than past years. This gave us time to visit, work on projects, and roam the Welbourne property. The weather was a bit gloomy, but it didn’t damper our fun in anyway; although our carriage rides were cancelled due to the weather.

Cheney McKnight provided the period meals for our weekend and did a fine job as always. Plenty of food and very good. And a wonderful roommate.

The group gave Jessica a period travel bag as appreciation for all her hard work in organizing these wonderful events. We had a play Saturday evening along with parlor games. Sunday morning we had a nice religious service with period hymns.

Again, I’m sorry this is not my usual event post. Please visit Jessica’s photos linked above, they are wonderful.
